I am happy to share that three of my works have been included, and one of the submitted works, “Christine”, has been awarded an Honorable Mention by Max Ginsburg in Mills Pond Gallery’s “Contemporary Realism” exhibition, September 12 - October 17, 2020. Ginsburg said about my painting, “Another head study Christine by Charis J Carmichael Braun has so much personality in the face and I really thought it was beautiful.” Sixty-eight works in a broad range of representational styles display interpretations of realism seen through the lens of 46 contemporary artists in various subjects from landscape, urban views, interiors, still life, and portraiture.

A note about the juror from Mills Pond Gallery: One of the most respected and highly accomplished realist painters today, Max Ginsburg’s paintings are in many prominent collections including The Butler Institute of American Art, The New Britain Museum, The Washington County Museum, The Society of Illustrators Museum, The Salmagundi Club, The Art Renewal Center (ARC), The Martin Luther King Labor Center. The painter has been praised for his political and social commentaries showing the struggles of everyday people in his New York City home. His art has been exhibited widely and received countless major awards among them The Portrait Society of America Competition (William Draper Grand Prize) and The Art Renewal Center (International Salon Competition- Best in Show). In his commitment to inspire today’s artists to master realism painting, Ginsburg has taught art for 60 years and offers workshops around the country and abroad.
Due to the COVID-19 virus, the Gallery is unable to have a public opening recepton. The Gallery is open to visitors Wednesdays - Fridays 10am-4pm, and Saturdays - Sundays 12-4pm. The Gallery is limiting viewers to 20 at a time; temperatures will be taken upon arrival, and masks and social distancing are required.
